Hello, I'm SACCAP's CEO, Talia Lawrence. Will Rogers State Historic Park is the threatened site closest to me. Not only do I live near it, but it is one of the main reasons I started SACCAP. I have dedicated this page to it's continuation.

History of Park:

Will Roger’s was a movie star in the 1920’s through the 1930’s.  He needed a place for he and his family  to escape city life. He combined his vast wealth and his love for nature and ranching to purchase 150 acres of land in Los Angeles. He built one small house and necessary horse accommodations, but otherwise left all the land untouched.   The photograph below shows the property when it was first purchased in the 1920's.

After Will Rogers died in a plane crash in 1935, the property went to his wife, Betty; and at the time of her death in 1944, she left the ranch, the horses and the house to the state, to be enjoyed by all.
Will Rogers today:

Today the park is open for visitation. You can go on hikes, ride horses, explore the creeks, and even tour Will Rogers' house itself. These pictures vaguely exemplify the natural beauty that Will Rogers park has to offer:
